Dear Pramodini,
Women have the menstrual problem, which makes it difficult for them to observe the rigorous vrata associated with going to Sabarimala. When they go to Sabarimala, if anything happens, it is difficult to care properly for women. Moreover, it has been proven scientifically that a lot of heat is generated in the woman’s body during this time, and it can even harm plants. The precious poongavanam of the lord is to be protected, and hence such observances.
