Swamiji, I am a 19 year old college student.I would like to follow Brahmacharya for the rest of my life.I have read what great sages like Swami Vivekananda and Swami Sivananda had told about being a Brahmachari. They said about the importance of following perfect Brahmacharya for period of 12 years. I sincerely wish to do that Swamiji. I always felt that Brahmacharya is the perfect thing for me. But I am struggling with my vasanas.Till +2, I had some bad habits, which are still causing me trouble. Unchaste thoughts pop out of my mind at times, which I find myself difficult to control. When such a thought comes,my mind loses its peacefulness, becomes very agitated and only after becoming the victim of such pleasures,my mind comes back to peace. This is continued for a long time and I really wish to have an end to this…… Please tell me Swamiji, what helped you to keep up your Brahmacharya. It always felt great when I could keep my chastity for some weeks, but I could not continue it for long. Please help me…. I would like to dedicate my life in studying the Scriptures deeply by giving myself to God and I believe Brahmacharya is the perfect tool for me.When my mind is calm, I know that all these lustful thoughts are useless and I feel more closer to Lord Krishna. But once a bad thought appears,I find no other way other than satisfying that desire, because after that I find myself calm. I am doing meditation and diet control for the last 6 months.Eventhough my meditation is not yet successfull, I find myself closer to the Krishna in me….. I will follow whatever you say Swamiji…..You lit my path in search of God and I consider you as my Guru. Please help me in this… Hari Om!

Dear Harishankar,
I really appreciate your openness and inquisitiveness.
Our ancestors advised the FOUR ashrams of Brahmacharyam, Garhasthyam, Vanaprastham and Sannyasam with a great understanding of human mind.
A student should refrain himself from all sensory provocations like adult videos or books to keep his mind centered. If he engages in sensual activities, his energy drains and unnecessary guilt creeps in.
His focus should be in studies and self development, then naturally he will be peaceful and energetic.
When he completes his education, he can marry a good cultured girl who will be his Sahadharmini. Both can lead a successful worldly life as well as pursuing their spiritual journey through Vanaprastham till Sannyasam.
If one does not have an iota of doubt that he wants to lead an ascetic life, then he will not ask such a question too. He will simply adopt Sannyasam.
If he does not follow this path with thoughtfulness, at a later stage his hidden Vasanas can cause problems and he may even quit Sannyasam.
Now you have to decide what you aspire in life.
My advise is, do not judge yourself and fall into guilt, because you are much bigger than your fleeting vasanas.
Be courageous and face life boldly. Be useful to this world. That is the best service to the Lord.
HariOm!
