Life is not mere imagination, but it is a journey with like minded people.
As you told about love there is nothing wrong but if both minds are not tuned then every thing goes wrong. As it is said one should not marry whom you love, more because you may lose a good friend.
In life mere emotion can’t make the other happy, one has to prove one’s own skill, ability and capability to run a family. If you are living for someone who is not in deep love with you that will decrease your opportunity to reach a higher position in your life.
What I suggest is, you just focus on your studies and reach in a good position then that girl will have more admiration and respect for you.
