Dear Anand, A person who has not realized the Self is like a wave that has a birth, life span and death. A Self Realized person has lost the identity of the wave – that is, like the Ocean itself, no birth and death! HariOm!

Swamiji Namaste My Mother in law feels that she has the divine powers of the Devi and during auspicious occasion/festivals like Navaratri etc. she would want me to do so many puja in the name of tradition. But all that she tells me to do is absurd. When i try reasoning out with her she would behave as if she is going in trance holding either the kumkum/ vibhuti and utter curses on me. But swamiji i am not affected because i go by what Lord Krishna’s Bhagavat Gita. She is ignorant to such an extent that she feels that it is because of my chanting Gita that me and my mother in law are not able to get along. i am trying to convince my husband to move out of here and stay separately so that there is no further clash. i don’t wish my child to grow in this atmosphere. Although it is going to be a tough time convincing my husband as he is very attached to his mother. Am i right in doing this? i am already being blamed of breaking the family. Pranam Swamiji Swamiji the other day there was discussion about the failure of Buddhism and subsequent invasion of the mughuls and then the reinstatement of sanatana dharma by Sri Adi Shankara. One of my collegues who is a hindu himself was enquiring what if the muguls invaded and that all of us were to become muslim; after all God is one and how does it matter what faith we follow? i tried to make him see reason saying that of course it is not the path that is important but since each mind is different it is difficult to make everyone to follow one faith forcebily which in turn will bring about hatred. Although i told him it is not any religions belief that is the problem but a few people misinterpreting it that is the problem. But he kept arguing and i remained silent thinking that no point in talking to him. Now the situation is such that i literally avoid his company. Swamiji am i right? Kindly guide.

HariOm! It means “YOU ARE THAT” – that is, you are nothing but the Consciousness!

Somewhere I read that four parts of the body( head,chest etc) represents brahmana,kshetriya,vaisya,shudra.According to this the legs(feet) represents shudra.Normally we are taught “padaseva”or touching the feet for blessings. I have been advised during my childhood to respect everybody but specially brahmanas .As the feet of brahmanas are also represents shudra according to the above. I feel shudras have the same status as brahmanas. But our society do not feel this.is it correct? What is the principle behind Padaseva?. HariOm

HariOm! We worship the Lotus Feet of the Lord; we do not say the head of the Lord! It is symbolic that we are surrendering before HIM! Padaseva implies humble Pranams. Varnashrams refer to the different states of mind as I have explained in previous answers.

swamiji pranam,this i am writing keeping the trajedy of the girl in mind.i think u can do a lot if u keep on mentionig the same in all ur progrms for the whole year.such things happen b’coz females r not given any value in the soceity.pl make people understand that men and women r complimentery 2 each other not high or low., as shown by krishna.never be he after a girl,girls were after him.during rasleela also he was der with each and every girl,showing the importence of a family,he was der with drowpathi, when he realisedthat she is as able as her 5 husbands,krishna showed that even radha also can his best friend despite being a girl.he such a parmpurusha showing how a man should be in kaliyuga.so it is acharyas like u peoples duty to bring out real nature of krishna by removing the misconcemptoins.
