According to our Scriptures, life is a continuum and we go through so many lives. Each birth is a chance to improve ourselves until our mind is pure enough to merge with its source, the supreme, infinite consciousness or God. HariOm!
It is tough to lose dear ones but life can only flow forward. You are lucky to have children who love and care for you, moreover need you in their lives. Focus on living for them and their happiness. Regularly read Bhagavad Gita too. Remember Bhagavan is your closest relative.
When you are ready for a transformation Bhagavan sends you the right person as Guru to direct you further in your spiritual journey. This will also give you the wisdom to identify the wrong entities.
It is definitely heart breaking to see a close relative suffer and we should all have sympathy. But beyond that to empathize with a sick person is not healthy. I am glad your mother – in- law acquired the mental courage to overcome the rough times. You can do so

Life in a material sense is clogged by Maya hence asat(not real), thamas( ignorance), and eventual non-existence( mrithyu). With the awakening of spiritual understanding we can transform our consciousness to sat-chit- anandam which is pure, eternal, bliss. This is a prayer to get started with that transformation .
