Dear Swamiji, I lost my mother. Before that she told she wanted to keep Bagavtha saptham at our home. Someday I want to fulfill that wish for her. We are a middle class family. 1) Is it okay to keep Bagavatha Sapthamham at home? 2)How many days we need to reserve for that? 3) What all the things I need to get ready? My mother wanted to read the shloka while Sapthaham. I would like to do it. 4) Is it allowed? 5) Which book I need to prepare? (I have heard Bagavatha Saptham but not read).

You can conduct Sapthaham anywhere. It is done over 7 days. Please contact a suitable Acharya and they will guide you on the necessary arrangements. You can read Moolam Bhagavatham and prepare yourself. Hari Om.

I lost my Beloved Father on 12th February evening. Next day was Shivarathri . He was in our home only, took Kanji in the noon and gone forever from our life through a silent attack , Doctor confirmed like that . Namaskaram Swamiji,I heard the story that Maharaja Parikshit build an abode in middle of the sea to escape from Takshaka’s bite (his fate). But Takshaka still came in the form of worm hidden in fruit and bit the King to death. This can be viewed as an example that One cannot escape his or her own fate. But, does Bhagavatham supports this story? As this would mean that Parikshit was still afraid of death (even after understanding Bhagavatham) and was trying of means to escape it.

Pranamam Swamiji, thanks so much for your answers that are so helpful, i really liked that answer to shri hari about vulnerability that was so true. I wanted to know isn’t it always better for mothers with small kids to not work especially in organizations where there is a lot of stress and negativity if their husband is earning enough for the family. The stress,pressure and negativity how much ever we try does have an affect on us which i feel will surely affect the baby as a tired mind cannot be so compassionate and loving as the toddler needs and deserves. Sometimes its hard to clean and recharge mind everyday. There are some good points like we become more independant and understand the value of money when we put in the pain and so we understand the pains of our husband better and dont complain so much about him not having time to be always around and help us. But overall i just feel its more negative than positive, but sometimes my people say its because i am lazy and trying to run away, i really cant decide what is best but i am sure i dont want to run away from the real world. One more thing for those who are not good in reading malayalam, which Gita book with good explanation would you suggest to read and understand.
