Dear Mini, Our culture started without any idols. After the Vedic ages, people were unable to concentrate for a long time; to solve this, our great masters discovered Idol worship. Even our Shastras say that when you have a balanced mind you can directly focus on formless truth.

Dear Sadasivan, As we study Physics, it teaches us that even when matter gets destroyed, energy exists. What happens to energy? It can again take another form. Similarly, when your body(matter) is destroyed the energy(mind) never gets destroyed. It can take another form; this is called rebirth.
