Dear Biju, It is said, ordinary people see only the story, the intelligent one sees moral lessons. The good and bad characters are a lesson for us to learn how we should be and should not be. HariOm!

Pujya Swamiji, Bhagavan says in the Gita that one must do one’s own prescribed duty without attachment, for the sake of sacrifice. I’m thinking that the word ‘prescribed’ means that which is prescribed by the Veda, according to the catur-varna. My question is that in the context of profession in today’s world, when everyone is free to choose and navigate his/her career, according to one’s ambition, can that still be considered as doing one’s prescribed duty ? Having ambition is required to make a mark in one’s career; so how can that be consistent with spirit of detachment ? Another related question I have is that , what all does ‘prescribed duty’ mean apart from profession ? Thank you.

Dear Swamiji, I stay in dubai i went to guruvayoor and bought your cd’s uthishtatha jakratha.I have some doubts please answer the following questions 1. After listening to your cd’s i decided to take meditation classes for all my neighbour kids and my kid(age 7-10) but i feel the kids are not able to concentrate they open their eyes they concentrate on other aum instead of their aum so can u please give me some suggestion to improve this meditation. Also when they ask me where is GOD. I told god is within us and they can be invoked by doing meditation. Swamiji is that right answer. please tell me. Is their any mantra to improve their concentration. 2. When i have my periods is it right to light the lamp and chant gayathri mantra. 3.in the cds you told that if some one is born or dead on a good day it is good but i really dont understand this all day is good but why follow such things ..i recently delivered a baby …some people were telling me Tuesday is not a good day to deliver but i did not believe in all that but after hearing this i am confused.

Thanks for your reply for my previous question about keeping Krishna as a role model posted on 15-03-2012.I am confused with your answer.Can you make it clear that does your answer means that Krishna was just an imaginary character and not a historical character?
